Father Notices His 14-Year-Old Daughter Receiving Expensive Gifts From Stranger – Story of the Day

Oliver Farrow is a caring and vigilant father, but it still took him more than a month to realize that something was wrong with his daughter Carla. At 14, Carla was adorable, sweet and bright, but she was still a teenager.

“Carla,” Oliver said that night. “Your mother and I would like to speak to you.”

Carla raised a hand in the air and waved it, saying, “Sorry guys, it’s Friday and Janice’s brother is taking us to the mall. Can we talk tomorrow?” Before her parents could react, Carla was already out of the house.

“I’ll go get her,” Oliver said angrily, grabbing his car keys.

Janice and her brother did pick Carla up, but they dropped her off at the mall entrance and continued on their way. Oliver felt a chill. What was Carla doing? Who was she meeting?

Staying out of sight, Oliver followed Carla to a Starbucks and watched in amazement as his daughter ran up to a handsome older man and hugged him. They sat down and began talking, leaning in intimately.

Oliver saw the man put a small package on the table, and Carla eagerly grabbed it. The teenager was smiling, and the man was holding her hand and stroking her wrist! It was too much for Oliver.

The man was panting and trying to push Oliver away. At the same time, Carla was crying and saying, “No dad, stop, it’s not what you think!”

Oliver turned to his daughter. “A grown man is giving you expensive gifts and touching you and it’s not what I think?” He looked at the hand the man was holding (Carla’s) and saw a diamond tennis bracelet glistening on it.

“What is it, Carla?” Oliver asked. “Mom and I warned you about men like that…”

But Carla shook her head, tears in her eyes. “Oh, Dad,” she whispered. “I didn’t want you to know!”

“Know what?” Oliver asks. “You know I love you, there’s nothing you can’t tell me!”

The older man walked up to Oliver and said, “I think what Carla means is that she didn’t mean to hurt you.”

Oliver was baffled and furious: “You discussed me with this person?” he asked Carla. “What’s going on?”

“Dad, six months ago, Janice and I did a DNA test, just for fun, you know?” Carla said. “But the results… They said Jeffrey was my biological father, and I was afraid Mom had cheated on him and you wouldn’t know. I couldn’t ask her…”

Oliver shook his head slowly. “Oh, sweetheart,” he said softly. “Of course I knew. Your mother and I wanted you so much, but I was infertile, so we used a sperm bank. I didn’t think it would matter at all, because you were my daughter the moment I saw you.”

Jeffrey put a hand on Oliver’s shoulder. “I’m sorry, but when Carla contacted me, I was thrilled! You see, I donated to a sperm bank in college, but then I came out as gay.”

“I am married, but my partner and I do not have children. Having a daughter like Carla was like receiving a gift from heaven. I do not want to steal her from you. You have the greatest treasure in the world, all I want is to share it with you!”

That night, Jeffrey, his partner, Carla and her parents had dinner together and established some basic co-parenting rules, like not buying a teenage girl $1,000 Birkin bags…
