Daughter Listens With Pride As Dad Sings Incredible Tennessee Whiskey Rendition In The Car

Country singer David Allan Coe originally released the song “Tennessee Whiskey” in 1981, but it gained renewed popularity after Chris Stapleton covered it in an R&B style on his debut album, Traveller (2015). According to Country Thang Daily, Stapleton’s rendition started a social media trend of people covering his version over backing recordings.

Among the various covers, the most popular is the 2017 Home Depot parking lot video featuring Kris Jones singing “Tennessee Whiskey.” Jones’ daughter, Dayla, had requested that he perform the song to show off his singing skills to her friends. According to Country Music Family, the video amassed 70 million views on social media within 14 months.
